Every Christmas the staff at WeGotTickets choose a charity that means a lot to us and set about collecting donations over the festive period. Last year our customers donated over £12,000 to The Trussell Trust – and this year we’re delighted to be working with Friends of the Earth, the UK’s biggest grassroots network dedicated to protecting people and planet.
As well as raising awareness of their amazing work, we’re giving our customers the opportunity to donate when buying tickets throughout December and January. We’re excited to support such a fantastic charity, and, below, Friends of the Earth introduce themselves and explain just why their work is so important…
In their own words – Introducing Friends of the Earth
We all deserve a greener, fairer future. A future in which everyone benefits from warm homes, cheap energy, clean air, reliable public transport, thriving nature and well-paid green jobs.
But the climate and nature crisis is getting worse with each passing year. In the UK and around the world, people are facing the devastating impacts of record temperatures and extreme weather, with many lives claimed and millions forced to flee their homes. Nature and precious wildlife are in sharp decline. And our air, water and land are polluted and suffocating. If we don’t act now, future generations will inherit a dying planet.
Friends of the Earth is campaigning for the changes we all need to see: our emissions slashed, our precious nature protected, and our society fair and flourishing. With over 200 local action groups, our powerful community network transforms local areas and demands national and international action from decision-makers. We combine this collective power with our political, legal and scientific expertise to achieve groundbreaking wins at every level, from local to global.
People power works. In 2024 we blocked new fossil fuel developments through landmark court cases, secured climate commitments from newly elected mayors, held companies to account for harm in their supply chains and stood in solidarity with those on the frontlines of the crisis all around the world.
But there’s so much more to be done.
With your support, we can continue to push decision-makers for bold action on climate and nature – such as more ambitious climate policies that improve people’s lives, and new laws to protect nature and human rights.
Help us tackle the biggest challenges of our time, for people and planet.
