Fundraise through WeGotTickets – The Event That Never Happened

Calling all venues, promoters, artists and arts organisations! During this difficult period we’re offering you the opportunity to fundraise through WeGotTickets by selling tickets to The Event That Never Happened.

TETNH InstagramThe live events industry has been hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis, and we’ve seen ticket sales tumble and dealt with thousands of cancelled and postponed events. We’ve found it distressing to see the struggles our friends and colleagues at venues, and promoters around the country, are going through and wanted to find a way to help.

So we’ve developed The Event That Never Happened, a way of fundraising through our site. By adding a normal event for sale, titled Your Name: The Event That Never Happened, you’ll be able to sell tickets to an event that will, you guessed it, never happen. You can market this as a unique way for your fans and regulars to support you through this time, with customers buying tickets as they would for any normal event. We’ll pay these donations through to you on a weekly basis to help ease cash flow worries.

You could also disperse these donations among artists, venues, or other people you work with, such as door staff or sound engineers, if you’d like to use it as a way of supporting your community.

We’ll be taking our usual small booking fee on these to ensure we’re still here to help you sell and market your events when all this madness is over. We’ve proudly supported the grassroots and independent music, comedy and events scenes for over twenty years, and plan on being here for at least twenty more!

Have a look at how the likes of Bird on the Wire, NCF Comedy, Dictionary Pudding, Holmfirth Civic Hall and others have set their events up here, and then follow suit. Whether you’re an existing WeGotTickets client or new to us you’ll find instructions to build your event at the bottom of this page – and once they’re on sale you’ll benefit not only from the regular payment but also our marketing efforts, which will include an e-marketing campaign to our database of over a million event lovers, and posting the whole campaign and individual events on our social media platforms and homepage.

We’ll also be reaching out to our partners at listings sites and online and print publications, and hope that we can spread the word about this initiative far and wide.

To that end, we encourage you to share your event on social media using the #TheEventThatNeverHappened hashtag, and to utilise your own mailing lists and marketing channels to give your fans and friends a chance to support you. We have images suitable for use on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram available to download here.

Good luck, and here’s to a time when we can all get back to normal and start gigging again! In the meantime, stay safe and look after each other.
